Artist Statement

My work explores the themes of beauty, memory and time.

Memories document moments in time; they’re a blend of vivid recollections, hazy impressions, and intangible emotions. These qualities are illustrated through a multi-layered approach, merging photo-transfer, alcohol inks, and graphite with resin. The smooth, glass-like surface of resin encapsulates each piece, preserving a fleeting moment, suspending it in time. Appearing in the circle, the alcohol inks spread and blend unpredictably, evoking the organic flow of memory, while graphite lines and marks serve as deliberate, grounding elements, representing the structure and patterns we search for to make sense of the past. The circles are spontaneously yet thoughtfully placed throughout the composition; they serve to juxtapose the rigidity of a square, creating a dynamic yet calming effect with its repetition of form and contrast of scale.

The work invites the viewer to reflect on how we recall, reinterpret, and reshape the past. Just as the materials interact to create unpredictable yet harmonious compositions, so do our memories—blurring boundaries, layering meaning, and revealing the beauty within their imperfections.
