This series explores themes of beauty and the passage of time, focusing on the societal pressure to conform to rigid, often unattainable standards of appearance. Cover model beauty is presented as idealized and fleeting—polished to perfection yet inevitably affected by aging. These manufactured ideals are contrasted with both the lasting beauty found in art and the expressive, fluid medium of alcohol ink. The unpredictability of the ink reflects the organic, ever-changing nature of identity and time, standing in opposition to the fixed, flawless images celebrated by the media. There’s also a touch of irony in the title, How Bizarre—a tongue-in-cheek nod to the fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar, which sometimes appears on covers simply as Bazaar. This playful twist highlights the strange contradictions in fashion imagery and the absurdity of chasing perfection in a world where beauty is constantly shifting.
